SATTLER is working to develop their expertise in combined lighting and acoustics even further.

Hi-Res   /   Lo-Res

High-end architecture elegantly merges lighting and acoustics. Having these two aspects interact is not a new thing for SATTLER. The company has long been combining both in customised solutions to meet special project requirements. After starting out with luminous ceilings, SATTLER now offers special designs as well as a variety of standard solutions for high-quality worksites, foyers and reception areas. The plan is to expand this expertise even further.

In 2018 SATTLER presented a surprising lighting solution which combined light with acoustics. The unpretentious Gioco pendant luminaire, available as a serial model, can be optionally equipped with a highly effective sound absorber to improve the room acoustics. SATTLER is going to review future luminaire developments to find out if the integration of acoustic functions is both sensible and feasible.

All of our solutions with acoustic effects improve the customers room acoustics explains Ulrich Sattler, managing director at SATTLER. For projects that require extensive acoustic planning, the company cooperates with external specialists.
"We consider it a special challenge to offer solutions that are not only functional, but also aesthetically attractive. Our main desire in planning and development is supporting room design with combined products that can be harmoniously integrated into the concept." Along with the luminaires, SATTLER offers many versions of combined light-and-acoustics solutions in order to develop just the right product for its customers and their rooms. Special illuminated ceiling surfaces with sound protection panels are part of the companys range as well.

From felt panel to dry moss and acoustically effective materials

A great range of sound-absorbing materials is available as well, including acoustically effective natural materials such as felt, fabric and moss for a warm, emotionally attractive atmosphere. In addition to a new felt panel like the one used in the Gioco pendant luminaire, the company offers solutions with fabric, perforated film and a specially treated, dry moss that always preserves its lush green colour. The range comprises a diverse selection of materials for a pleasant acoustic atmosphere in the room.

High flexibility and special solutions

The acoustic solutions developed by SATTLER have been used in many renowned architecture projects for many years. The family-owned company has acquired high competence in the area of acoustics in the course of the last decade. Today it offers
solutions customised to specific situations from its standard range as well as by way of special solutions. "Combining lighting and acoustics in a single project is a sensible solution with harmonious aesthetics," says managing director Sven Sattler. "The individual luminaires are, of course, available without an acoustics kit as well. Our customers can plan very flexibly with our beautiful and strongly customised combinations."
Since architects and planners see a room as a comprehensive system, many benefits can be derived from having lighting and acoustics planned by the same company. "We will always check whether an acoustic version is feasible, sensible, visually attractive and acoustically effective for serial production when designing new luminaires in the future," Ulrich Sattler explains his strategy.

SATTLER is a family business located in Göppingen, Germany, which is managed in the second and third generation by Ulrich Sattler and his son, Sven Sattler. As a manufacturer of sculptural luminaires of extremely high-quality detail from design to production, the company enjoys an excellent international reputation. SATTLER luminaires are coveted interior items for foyers, shops and malls as well as prestigious residential buildings and executive suites all over the world. “The true greatness of our products is in the detail”, is the company owners’ creed, which also concisely summarizes SATTLER’s quality and design standards.

SATTLER has been awarded numerous design and innovation prizes for their pioneering products such as the iF Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award and the Focus Open Gold Award. The most recent prize in 2019 has been the German Design Award.

In January 2015, SATTLER moved into a new corporate building, which was designed by the Stuttgart-based architectural firm Rolf Loew and furnished by Raiserlopes.
